In the year of God Amen The ffourth day of September in the Twentie Fifth yeare of the reigne of our Sovereigne Lord Charles the Second by the Grace of God of England Scotland Ffrance and Ireland King Defender of the Ffaith and in the yeare of Our Lord One Thousand six hundred seventie three I John Strudwicke of the parish of Alfold in the Countie of Sussex Yeoman being of good and perfect memorie abd remeberance praise be given to God although weake of bodie Doe make this my last will and testament in manner and forme following (that is to say)

Ffirst and chiefly before all other things I commend my soul into the most merciful handes of God my Creator and Maker trusting and believing verely that for his mercies safe through the Merits of the bitter death and Passion of his sonn Jesus Christ my only Saviour and Redeemer I have and shall have perfect remission and forgiveness of all my synns

And my bodie I commend unto the earth to be buried in the Churchyard of Alfold aforesaid

Item I give unto Thomas Strudwicke my Brother Tenn Shillings of currant money of England to be payed by myne Executrix hereafter named within one whole yeare after my decease

Item I give unto my Brother Thomas my house and Land in the Parish of Alfold in the Countie of Sussex being part of Oakhurst with the appurtenances thereunto belonging and to his heires forever within one whole yeare after my decease

Item I give unto Jane Penfold my sister ffourscore pounds of currant money of England to be payed by my executrix herafter named within one whole yeare after my decease

Item I give to Sarah my sister the wife of John White three score and tenn pounds of currant English money to be payd by my executrix hereafter named within one whole yeare after my decease

Item I give to John Doegood my nephew sonn to the said Sarah tenn pounds of currant English Money to be payd unto Thomas Strudwick my brother when he shall accomplish the Age of Ffifteene yeares to be employed unto the use of my aforesaid nephew untill hee shall accomplish the full age of one and twentie yeares. And if it shall happen the said John should dye before hee shall accomplish the age of one and twentie then my will is that the legacie herein beqwueathed unto him shall remaine unto the aforesaid Thomas Strudwick

Item all the remainder my goods Chattells and credits moveable and immoveable (my debts if I owe anything at the time of my death, my legacies herein bequeathed being performed the charges of my funerall and the probation of this my last will and testament being discharged ) I give them all unto Katherine Strudwick my sister, Whom I make my whole and sole Executrix of this my last will and testament

and I doe ordaine and make my loveinge ffriends Henry Peryer of Kerdford and John Mills of Loxwood Overseers of this my last will and Testament to see all things herein performed soe much as in them shall lye and I give unto either of them for their paines besides their necessarie expenses herein to be taken ffive shillings apeice

And in witness that this is my last will and Testament I the said John Strudwicke have hereunto set my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written; John Strudwicke his mark In the presence of Henry Peryer Jo. Mills Probatum to Katherine Strudwicke
